Meet Agena and her family

What happens next?
New Story gives 100% of your donations (including cc processing fees) local partner who has local Haitian contractors ready to start building. It will take about 2 months to build the home, and every donor will get an update once the home is complete.

Their Story
Agena is a 73 year-old who cares for her three grandchildren by working at a school cantine.Together, they live in a tarp tent that was given to Agena five years ago and was only meant to last six months.

“The tent is so hot, it makes life difficult,” Agena says. “We can’t live in it. Everything in the [tent] is always dirty from dust coming through the walls.”

The poor tent conditions leave her and her grandchildren vulnerable to violence, disease, and harsh weather. With a new home, “I will be so happy,” Agena says. “I will say thank you to God so so so much.”Their tent is not a shelter. It does not protect them.

We, however, can provide a safe and enduring home for Agena’s family, a legacy for her to pass on to her grandchildren.
