New Story gives 100% of your donations (including cc processing fees) to our incredibly trustworthy and competent local partner, Mission of Hope, who has local Haitian contractors ready to start building. It will take about 1-2 months to build the home, and every donor will get an update once the home is complete.
Their Story
Ghislaine is a single mother of five children; Midi (22), Frantzson (18), Gilna (17), Gelene (14), and Louisness (5). Her life became very difficult when her husband passed away and she makes a living selling produce when she has the funds to afford stock.
This family lived in a house in the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince before the earthquake and moved to Leveque because an organization was giving out tents. Living in a crowded tent was their only option.
All of her children want to finish school and enter professions to help their family thrive but this is hard to accomplish from a mice-ridden, piping hot tent without access to adequate sanitation. Living in the tent “is especially difficult for my 5 year old child”, Ghislaine describes, “because she is too young to tolerate the heat”.
In addition to renewed health and protection from theft, inclement weather, rape, and sex trafficking, a new home will be a foundation for this entire family to be more productive students and professionals.
Investments from private donors allows New Story to pass 100% of public donations straight to home projects.
