New Story gives 100% of your donations (including cc processing fees) to our incredibly trustworthy and competent local partner, Mission of Hope, who has local Haitian contractors ready to start building. It will take about two months to build the home, and every donor will get an update once the home is complete.
Their Story
Jonesse is a farmer whose dream is to reunite his family and marry his girlfriend, Elina. Together, they have 2 boys and 4 girls – the youngest is 2 years old and has only known homelessness. Their children are vulnerable to rape, disease, sex trafficking, and more.
After their house in Port au Prince was destroyed, they moved to Leveque hoping to find work and were given a tent.
Despite their hard work, the family had to make ends meet by selling their first tent and made a second one with scraps they found lying around. The tent is unsafe and leaks water, leaving them vulnerable to sanitation-borne diseases, theft and violence.
Currently, Elina and the baby do not live in the tent because the baby is too fragile for the tent conditions.
“I can’t even tell you how happy I will be when my family can live together again,” Jonesse told us. Your donation will help Jonesse reunite his family and provide the opportunity for his children to grow up in a safe environment.
Investments from private donors allows New Story to pass 100% of public donations straight to home projects.
