Meet Marcel and family

What happens next?
New Story gives 100% of your donations (including cc processing fees) local partner who has local Haitian contractors ready to start building. It will take about 2 months to build the home, and every donor will get an update once the home is complete.

Their Story
“I lost everything I owned in the earthquake … I would love a house.”

For five years, 80-year-old Marcel has been working hard as a farmer and living in a tent that was only meant to last six months.

Marcel’s household is full. With 2 adults and 8 children – there is hardly enough space for them in the tent.
For Marcel and his family, the heat is the hardest part of living in the tent. The tent gets extremely hot, especially at noon. “I cannot go inside during the day and we are always sick,” Marcel says.

For Marcel, a house would provide much-needed shelter and a positive impact on the health and opportunities for his large and loving family for generations to come.
