Maria-Rose, a mother of four, is a widow who was displaced from Port-au-Prince by the 2010 earthquake. For the four years since, she has lived in a tent in Leveque. This generous soul opens her humble dwelling to young local children with no place to sleep at night.
The elderly are often targets of theft and violence but we can protect Maria-Rose by funding a brand new home! A safe shelter also empowers her ability to be a fortress for children in need as she has been for years.
Together, we can change the story of Maria-Rose.
Investments from private donors allows New Story to pass 100% of public donations straight to home projects.
When asked by our local partner, Mission of Hope, what she would do now that she has a home Maria-Rose responded, “I’d like to start a business. I’ll also be able to build a fence and start a garden. Pinto beans, bananas, white beans - everything!”
After five horrific years of living in a dangerous tent, on March 23rd, 2015, Maria-Rose and her family moved into their new house – a place for peace, security, legacy, and opportunity.
Maria-Rose, her children, and New Story would like to thank each and every donor!
Meet another family.
