Meet Melicia

What happens next?
New Story gives 100% of your donations (including cc processing fees) to our incredibly trustworthy and competent local partner, Mission of Hope, who has local Haitian contractors ready to start building. It will take about two months to build the home, and every donor will get an update once the home is complete.

Their Story
Melicia is a 70 year-old widow who currently is unable to work, but dreams of selling candy and cookies when she has a safe home.

After the earthquake, she and her husband moved to Leveque from Guiton. Since her husband’s death, she has lived alone. With a new home, her daughter will come to live with her and she will be protected from the harsh sun.

Together, we can reunite a mother and her daughter as well as provide a safe and stable home where Melicia can pursue her entrepreneurial aspirations.
