Ornil’s family lived in their home in Leveque, Haiti until it was destroyed - along with life as they knew it - by the 2010 earthquake. Their story took a tragic turn because of an unexpected natural disaster, but in just nine days, our donors have raised money for their new home.
Five children (ages 16, 15, 14, 12, 2, and 2 months), Ornil, and her husband Pierre (not pictured) live in highly vulnerable conditions. While Pierre, a farmer, and Ornil, a merchant, work hard each day they do not have the resources to build a new home.
With every passing day without a safe home, the family is exposed to horrific dangers like storms, theft, child abduction and sex trafficking. They do not have access to basic sanitation facilities which can have severe health implications - especially for their kids. But this story is changing...
Together we will remove Ornil and her family from this dangerous environment and into a safe home. This will bring them safety, security, reliable sanitation and hope.
It will give them a life-changing story.
Investments from private donors allows New Story to pass 100% of public donations straight to home projects.
After 5 horrible years, Ornil, her husband, and her 5 children now have a safe place to call home. (her kids were at school while our local partner filmed this).
A house is more than just a building – it’s a shelter from danger, a peaceful place to rest, to study for school, and to build a brighter future.
Ornil, her family, and New Story would like to thank each and every donor!
