There are 7 people that live in this blue tarp tent that Samaritan’s Purse put together 4 years ago after the earthquake destroyed their home.
When your home is a thin tarp, you live with daily fear.
Fear of the theft of your belongings or worse, your children.
Fear of rape and violence. Fear of weather because a harsh wind could blow away your flimsy “home”. Fear of the illness’ your 5 little girls could contract due to poor sanitation.
Pierre (mother), Mackenson (father), and their 5 daughters (ages 13, 10, 6, 3, and 6 months) have been burdened by these fears since the earthquake destroyed their home 4 years ago.
We can band together to change the life trajectory of this hard working family by funding a new house in a safe community with access to clean water and sanitation. Let’s remove unnecessary fear from their daily lives. Let’s give them a chance at building a new story.
Investments from private donors allows New Story to pass 100% of public donations straight to home projects.
Our local partner, Mission of Hope, asked Pierre, “What was the worst thing about living in a tent?” Her response, “Sometimes the children are not well. The doctors have told us this is because of the blue tent.”
This has changed! Pierre (mother), Mackenson (father), and their 5 daughters (ages 13, 10, 6, 3, and 6 months) now have a safe place to call home. A house is more than just a building – it’s a shelter from danger, improved health, a peaceful place to rest, to study for school, and to build a brighter future.
Pierre, her family, and New Story would like to thank each and every donor!
